From behind me,
I feel a change
coming from
something.
My mind must be
playing tricks on
me.
I could have sworn
there wasn’t a window
next to me.
When I first awoke, this
room only had walls.
I pick up the glass of nearly
empty orange juice and take
a few sips before putting it
back on the tray.
A glowing white light pours
from the window.
It beckons me to
come closer.
Without hesitation, I
climb onto the bed to
get a better look
outside.
I squint my eyes a little
and undo the small
latches that keep
the window shut.
After successfully unfastening
them, I raise the window
and glance outside.
Beyond this room, there is
a bright sun and a vast blue
sky.
I wish it could swallow me
whole.
Below me, the ground mirrors
the brightness of the sun and
the blue firmament.
It’s almost as if it is reflecting
the very sky.
How can the ground reflect
the sky?
