Ronin embraces my
body in a loving
hug.
I don’t hug back,
thinking this has to
be my imagination.
“Is it really you?”
I ask, pushing him
away as my face
wrinkles in disgust.
“It is. Are you
MAD about what
you saw at the
cafeteria?”
“Mmm….maybe a
little. Maybe a lot.
You bastard!” I
burst into a fit
of laughter.
Ronin has been like
a drug, making me
forget all the things
that have broken
me
until now.
“She’s all game.
Do you remember?”
I watch Ronin talk,
feeling an eerie
sense that he
isn’t lying.
He just has a funny
and distorted way of
causing destruction.
Or maybe another
word for it is
tricking
others.
