I walk over to Ronin’s desk,
noticing that there’s no
homework laying out
for me to examine.
The desk’s flat surface is
bare, looking as if it hasn’t
been used.
“Tetsuya.” Ronin says,
walking into the room.
I turn around, annoyed.
“Didn’t you say you needed
help with your homework?”
Precious time has been
wasted.
I don’t want to keep Tsukino
waiting for too long.
“Sorry, I was in the library
on the third floor.” Ronin
apologizes,
placing down a mysterious-
looking book that doesn’t
seem to resemble a high
school textbook.
The book is simply red,
with the title in gold letters.
It says, Cast the Die.
I find myself drawn to
the book, opening the
first page.
“What is—”
Before I can finish
my question,
Ronin uses a sharp object
to pierce through my chest.
I stare at my younger brother
AS my eyes widen in shock
Ronin’s expression is dark as he
laughs—it’s a laugh of sheer
madness.
