First Light (63)

During the cool of
night, I can barely
sleep, hearing
whispers.

They are soft and quiet,
stirring from within the
heart.

This closeness and
warmth of two was
never really meant
to be.

I can hardly sleep thanks
to the constant stirring
from within the heart.

Awake before dawn, I
falter, pretending to be
content with a facade
of words that hold no
meaning.

A while ago, desire covered
my sight, growing from one
end of the room to the other.

This closeness and warmth
of two was never really
meant to be.

This wholeness and depth
was clearly seething from
the bubbling pot.

At the risk of things, I have
come to know that a fragile
rose can have the strongest
thorns.

At the risk of things, I have
come to grow, and because
of that, the first light of dawn
is flooding through.
