After a while, I calm
down and Tsukino
pulls away.
Her eyes are red and
glossy from crying.
I smile at her. “Should
we get going now?’
Tsukino smiles back,
“Yes. Should we go
to the food court?”
She asks, sniffling
slightly as she
opens her
purse.
She grabs some
Kleenex tissues
and hands me
one.
I thank her before
using it, feeling glad
to be hanging out
with her today.
Then, for some
reason, her words
come to mind:
“Are you like that too?”
“I mean, you’re handsome,
Tetsuya! Many girls dream
to be in my shoes right now.”
There’s no way I could just
treat the person I’ve fallen
in love with as if they’re
trash—
to be used for a while
and then discarded.
Tsukino is more than that
to me.
She’s a human being
with emotions.
